Purpose

I had a problem with XFinity where my internet would go from max speed and slowly degrade into extremely low speeds. Rebooting the modem temporarily fixed the issue. Despite changing multiple cables, and trying a different modem, I was not able to figure out the problem. So I looked for other similar projects and made a full solution that would push to InfluxDB so that I could make Grafana charts.

I would notice that the SNR would drastically degrade in correlation to speed losses. After finally getting to a commercial technician, they were able to confirm an issue somewhere down the line, and the problem has been gone since.

I later moved to using XFinity’s modems since they support >1Gbps speeds, so it’s no longer maintained, but it most likely still works.
